JTech
Web Systems began its life in early March of 2001. With the purchase
of the Dell server and the initial setup of the AW server. In
June 2001 the world JTech was won as a Bingo prize, and was renewed
and expanded in September. By October the server was online and
doing business.
I
wish to express my sincerest thanks to the Wade Edwards Foundation
and all the staff at the Wade Edwards Learning Lab for graciously
supplying our first Internet connection. I would not be where
I am today without these guys. They supplied the first DSL connection
for the server.
Starting
in mid October, 2001, JTech began offering free world hosting.
The hosting service was mainly intended to be a learning experience.
I used the opportunity to get hands-on experience. In the closing
months of 2001 there was a steady flow of new customers. Slowly
but surly JTech was gaining steam. Early in 2002, JTech began
free offering object path hosting in addition to the free world
hosting.
Everything
went very smoothly until April 2002, when I started noticing slower
and slower response times from the server. What was happening?
The WELL's DSL line was being swamped. Put together the incoming
data from the well users, and the outgoing data of the server,
and you have a *lot* of bandwidth use. I began looking for a professional
location immediately.
By
the end of May I had a contract signed with Inflow, a professional
IT/managed hosting business in the Research Triangle Park. The
server was moved in the first week of June, 2002. Because of the
price of our nice bandwidth, the focus has switched from a learning
experience to a business venture. Prices have been introduced,
and will become effective in July 2002.
That
brings us up to the current time.
I originally got
interested in computers when I was about 8 years old. I've since
learned many programming languages, linux, and HTML/web site design
from my collection of computer books. Using the skills I have
developed over the past years, I've completed many projects for
home, school, church, and small businesses.
